Last year saw one of the most significant designers of our age leave the fashion stage for good. Alexander McQueen had the kind of fashion genius that only comes around once in a generation. This short film, shown last week on More 4 and available for the next month on 4OD, tells the story of McQueen’s rise from the grotty back streets of East London to the Couture catwalks of Paris. Using a mix of rare footage of McQueen himself, along with interviews of key people in his life, including colleagues, family, friends and most significantly with his eccentric muse and patron Isabella Blow.
