The Lynx Effect for Ladies

January 23, 2012 - 7:25 am No Comments

You know Lynx? The amazing fragrance for men that makes us lose all control instantly and just want to rip the clothes off whatever hunk of man meat we catch a whiff of the stuff on? The one with the totally realistic adverts where hundreds of gorgeous women shed their garments and run towards a poor Lynx-drenched chap who doesn’t stand a chance? Well, now all that passion could be ours too!

Yes, Lynx have finally developed a fragrance for “teh wimmins” too. The new Lynx Attract will be available in ‘For Him’ and ‘For Her’ varieties. Now we can spend our time fighting off intense advances from inappropriate men, just like… er, like we do anyway. So, lovely Lynx people, what’s actually in it for us?

OK OK, so I should probably drop the heady levels of sarcasm to something a teeny bit more subtle than the smell of Lynx on your average teenage boy. It is just a body spray, after all. However, my first issue with this new product was that they told BitchBuzz that: “Lynx introduce new fragrance for girls”. Excuse me? Girls?

Do they mean the sort who are of an age where they have only just discovered that they might now be in the market for deodorant? Or grown women who Lynx are choosing, once again, to patronise? Just as well they put some pink in the packaging design too. Thanks for making it clear that this product is very much for us girls! The fact that it’s called For Her and will be stocked with the women’s deodorants in stores wouldn’t have given me a clue at all.

OK, feminist ranting aside, I guess the most important thing is… how does it smell? You would think it’d have to be pretty damn good in order to make someone want to have sex with you instantly, but this costs £3.25 so I suspect it probably won’t be competing with Calvin Klein’s Eternity. Lynx says:

“Attract For Her perfectly complements the male scent and will drive the guys wild with its fruity, floral and woody fragrance. A vibrant colourful mixture of succulent fruit creates an enticing fusion while floral notes leave a feminine accord. Bottom notes of wood, musk and vanilla give the fragrance a sheer creaminess.”

A sheer creaminess, eh? No wonder the men can’t get enough. But what if we want to attract the ladies instead? Should we were the ‘For Him’ version? And would that just get us a load of straight women? Bloody hell, Lynx! Why do you have to make things so confusing? What if I just want to smell good and not be bothered by random strangers on the street, eh?

Maybe it is designed for young teenagers and I really shouldn’t be so scathing. After all, anything that helps a a pubescent girl feel more confident and attractive can only be a good thing, right? Let’s just hope Lynx don’t go down the usual cheesy route with their advertising for this product. Mind you, with the tag line “New Lynx Attract For Him and For Her – Unleash the Chaos”, I’m not terribly hopeful for that! All will be revealed on 1st February.
